WOMEN DAY 2025: ENUGU CHAPTER OF WLIN TAKES THE LEAD.

The Enugu State chapter of the Women Leadership Institute Network (WLIN) in commemoration of the International Women Day 2025 was on Izu Umuada (an Indigenous TV / Radio program ) at ESBS Enugu State. The topic of discussion was on the need for women empowerment. This was in line with the 2025 theme of the International Women Day 'Accelerate Action' being celebrated every 8th of March annually.

The definition of empowerment especially as it relates to women and girls at the verge of the celebration of the International Women's Day was extensively dealt with. It was fully discussed that women empowerment is crucial because it promotes gender equality, unlocks the full potential of half of the population and leads to significant societal benefits like economic growth, improved health outcomes, enhanced education level and more just and sustainable future for all. This is because empowered women contribute actively to their communities, leadership and decision making processes at various levels.

The roles of WLIN in the State were specifically brought to limelight as this discussion was championed by the State Coordinator of the Network.

After the on air presentation, the team of the WLIN Enugu Chapter moved to the field with focus on Schools to sensitize Young women and female students as well as youth corpers. The female Corp members of the Local Government Area were educated on the roles of Women and girls and ways to arouse their potentials early enough to be part of leadership, governance and decision making.

They were taken to schools today to replicate what they have learnt under the supervision of WLIN. All the students that got the answers to the questions posed were given a token gift as can be seen in one of the pictures displayed above. It was an awesome collaboration with impact on the future mothers.

Happy International Women's Day in advance.
